SurfAid’s core fundraiser “Swim 4 Life” was held this past weekend at Coggan Family Aquatic Complex in La Jolla. “Swim 4 Life” is an annual event held to raise money and awareness for SurfAid International. Jedidiah was happy to have been apart of the San Diego event and was stoked on the amount of people who came out to support SurfAid.
SurfAid, who is our March Community Partner, is a non-profit organization whose mission is to improve the health, well being, and self-reliance of people living in isolated regions around the world.
“Swim 4 Life” is a fundraising-benefit held once a year to raise money for both SurfAid and the people of the Mentawai Islands. In isolated regions throughout the world, around 10 million children die each year from preventable diseases. This event is an opportunity for people to turn their ideas into actions- and improve the statistics of those kid’s lives.
The money donated for the event was through individual sponsorship; the participants had friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, etc. donate money by “sponsoring” them to swim the designated 30-minutes. There were individuals, couples, teams and even high school swim teams, who came out to do their time. There was FREE lunch from Rubios, and a gift bag including an official “Swim 4 Life” shirt. Those who raised the most money were entered to win even bigger and better prizes, including a surf trip to Indonesia. The event went from 12-5pm on Saturday, and there wasn’t a dry lane in the pool.
You can still enter to swim or raise money at the other two “Swim 4 Life” locations- March 29th in Los Angeles OR April 4th in San Francisco- by going here To see more pictures from that day go to the followup section here:
