Free Tickets to see Joel P West and the Tree Ring at the Museum of Contemporary Art in San Diego

Posted on Thursday at 12:41

The creative humans at Sezio are hosting an amazing show at the Museum of Contemporary Art in La Jolla THIS FRIDAY featuring music by Joel P West and the Tree Ring and Black Mamba. They’ve even been rad enough to gift us two sets of free tickets to the show. If you’re interested in winning those tickets, watch this amazing video then keep on reading…

We were so inspired by the sense of community that was captured in the music video that we felt the only appropriate way to give the tickets away would be to do so in the very setting the video was created…a dog park. We are sending our interns Veronica and Michael along with their dogs to a few local pooch parks around San Diego.

Veronica will be at Dog Beach in Ocean Beach with her dog Milie (below) from 6:30-7:00pm on Thursday evening.

Michael will be at Dog Beach in Solana Beach with his dog Sammy (below) from 5:30 – 6:00 pm on Thursday evening.

If you want these free tickets, all you have to do is track down the dogs, take a picture with them and let us know/upload the photo on Facebook that you’ve encountered them.

Happy Dog Hunting and we’ll see you on Friday!

Who We Are: Kahana Kalama

Posted on Wednesday at 8:17

It is my extreme pleasure to introduce to you Kahana Kalama, Jedidiah’s Brand Manager. Kahana started surfing for Jedidiah in 2004 as a senior at Point Loma Nazarene University, and the brand has come a long way as his contributions have been a huge factor.

Born in Kailua, Oahu, Kahana grew up on the islands of Hawaii aspiring to work within the surf industry. At Point Loma Nazarene University, Kahana studied Managerial & Organizational Communications and directly after graduation in 2005, started surfing for the Jedidiah surf team. This eventually led into working full-time as the marketing manager in December of that year.

When Kahana isn’t closing deals at work, he loves hanging out with Sarah (his beautiful new wife of almost 3 weeks; pictured below), surfing Americas and riding his bicycle around North Park.  And although he loves living in San Diego, his favorite places to visit are San Sebastian, Spain and home in Hawaii.

A few things that you wouldn’t necessarily know about Kahana are that he used to play the cello, has a crazy long name (Christian Anthony Kahanakealohamainokalani Kalama)(!!!) and that surfing/working for Jedidiah has taken him a ton of rad places including Spain, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Thailand, Nicaragua (3x), Costa Rica (2x), Japan, and Haiti.

He lists his current favorite 3 bands as Washed Out, Coyote Clean Up, White Hinterland but he and I both think you should also know that his first concert was TLC, BoyzIIMen and MC Hammer (at the age of 6).

When asked about the most defining experiences in his life, he responded “getting married trumps any experience I have ever had in my entire life” but goes on to mention his first experience with the Gabriel House in Mexico and how it changed his perspective and helped him realize how easy it is to work service into everyday life.

Before we finished chatting, I asked him the next thing he was going to eat and his response: “The next thing I am going to eat is Sushi Deli. That is super SUPER predictable…but I guess I am really predictable.”

Kahana is really an incredible worker and does so much that enables everyone around him to succeed at what they do. He is incredibly humble and a lot of fun to be around. Jedidiah is a better place because of Kahana Kalama.

Super Successful ‘Gum For My Boat’ Screenings at USC & Michigan State!

Posted on Tuesday at 5:24

We are so stoked to have a good bunch of campus reps who throw rad screenings of Gum For My Boat on behalf of Jedidiah.

I wanted to share a few shots and comments that we received from our campus reps regarding the parties they threw. Thanks so much to Theresa Cloutier at Michigan State University and Nikki Yep at USC.

If you are interested in hosting a screening of Gum For My Boat (trailer at the bottom of this post), feel free to contact Veronica at veronica@jedidiahusa.com or Mike at mike@jedidiahusa.com.

MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY SCREENING

Along with the pictures below, Theresa said:

All I can say is that it turned out awesome! I had a huge variety of ages: a few elementary kids, high schoolers, mostly college students, and some adults!

Everyone loved the artwork, and the acoustic set was great!

I had so many people come up after the screening and tell me how touching the film was, and a bunch of people wanted to know if they could donate to Surfing The Nations.

What was really awesome too, is that a student actually came up afterward and talked to me for about 20 minutes, who was from Bangladesh!

He said he was so impressed with the film, and wished he had invited more of his friends from Bangladesh who go to MSU. He also asked how he could get ahold of a copy of “Gum for My Boat” so he could have his own event, hosted by the Bangladesh Club in East Lansing!

USC SCREENING

Nikki did a super rad job throwing this screening. Definitely one of our most committed friends, Nikki also sent us some pics from the USC A.L.I.V.E. + Jedidiah Gum For My Boat party.
