‘Cambodia: Ray of Hope’ Reception Hosted by World-Renowned Surf Photographer Aaron Chang

Posted on Friday at 12:27

This Friday, world-renowned surf photographer, Aaron Chang and other artists will be holding a ‘Cambodia: Ray of Hope’ reception. The night is for artists and the community to fight human trafficking. Chang went to Cambodia with Jedidiah in 2010 to meet and photograph the community. Jedidiah clothing pieces included many of his Cambodia photographs in the designs that benefit World Vision this season.

Jedidiah is proud to sponsor the reception and our CEO, Kevin Murray will be at the event. A large amount of proceeds from Friday’s photographs, art and Jedidiah clothing sales will help World Vision open a trauma recovery center that will hold more than 70 children per year in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Definitely a great chance to see new art, socialize, and help children in need.

Details:

A StandUp First Day on the Job

Posted on Tuesday at 6:20
Many first days at a new job consist of what seems like endless training in a corporate office with no windows and miles of paperwork and manuals.

Not at Jedidiah.

From the first minute I walked in the door, I was reminded of reasons I was drawn to Jedidiah in the first place: the passion, philanthropy and mission of the Jedidiah family.

For my first day at Jedidiah, I found myself at StandUp for Kids Center in Oceanside. Through street outreach, devoted volunteers, resource programs and community centers, SUFK helps and stabilizes homeless children on the street.

The energy of Jedidiah’s artists, designers and Jedidiah CEO, Kevin Murray, filled the room as they painted a mural on the largest walls of the Oceanside Center. Starting at 6 p.m. with the backdrop, the artists painted, laughed, listened to music and complimented each other’s work late into the evening.

I got to spend a lot of time with the center’s director, Kim. Her enthusiasm and concern for the kids immediately shone through as she went in depth about what being a ‘street kid’ entails. With homelessness seeming like an overwhelming problem, the hope and passion Kim shared with me made the problem very real, but optimistically solvable. She was so appreciative of Jedidiah’s gift of art and was certain it would serve as inspiration to the kids that the center serves, art being one of the best ways for them to emotionally express themselves.

When the mural was finished, the kids’ faces were filled with smiles. Our head designer, Kelli Murray, said they tried to portray connection and friendship between their individually painted figures and the top upper angel-like character served as the protector among the group. By the end of the night I felt extremely connected as a company and to the StandUp for Kids mission.

Definitely a great way to kick off a new job.

A special thanks to all of the artists who donated their time and talent to make this project possible:
