Retailers Join Our Japan Mission

Posted on Wednesday at 5:56

Already, the success of the Japan inspired t-shirts has exceeded our expectations. We truly appreciate customer and retailer support in raising money for World Vision’s work in Japan.

We want to give credit to the retailers who have jumped on board to sell the shirts. Their involvement has greatly increased the footprint of this project. We look forward to additional retailers joining our mission.

Japan Earthquake Relief

Posted on Tuesday at 7:26

We just launched an eight piece Japan inspired t-shirt line with Bulldog Drummond to support World Vision’s efforts in Japan. With each shirt priced at $20, $15 goes directly to World Vision to further their efforts in Japan.

World Vision is our current Spring/Summer 2011 partner and seeing their immediate devotion to Japan inspired us to make a collection that would go directly to their Japan efforts.Within 48 hours of the earth quake and massive tsunami, World Vision was on the ground in Sendai identifying priority needs. The organization is providing blankets, bottled water and other life essentials to the communities most affected by this disaster.

Money raised from our Japan series will fund the distribution of relief supplies and building child-friendly spaces that provide support and structure to affected children. To read more about their efforts, check out their website. Even though we are far away from Japan here in San Diego, we feel that through our efforts we can help Japan recover and empower others to do so as well.

A StandUp First Day on the Job

Posted on Tuesday at 6:20
Many first days at a new job consist of what seems like endless training in a corporate office with no windows and miles of paperwork and manuals.

Not at Jedidiah.

From the first minute I walked in the door, I was reminded of reasons I was drawn to Jedidiah in the first place: the passion, philanthropy and mission of the Jedidiah family.

For my first day at Jedidiah, I found myself at StandUp for Kids Center in Oceanside. Through street outreach, devoted volunteers, resource programs and community centers, SUFK helps and stabilizes homeless children on the street.

The energy of Jedidiah’s artists, designers and Jedidiah CEO, Kevin Murray, filled the room as they painted a mural on the largest walls of the Oceanside Center. Starting at 6 p.m. with the backdrop, the artists painted, laughed, listened to music and complimented each other’s work late into the evening.

I got to spend a lot of time with the center’s director, Kim. Her enthusiasm and concern for the kids immediately shone through as she went in depth about what being a ‘street kid’ entails. With homelessness seeming like an overwhelming problem, the hope and passion Kim shared with me made the problem very real, but optimistically solvable. She was so appreciative of Jedidiah’s gift of art and was certain it would serve as inspiration to the kids that the center serves, art being one of the best ways for them to emotionally express themselves.

When the mural was finished, the kids’ faces were filled with smiles. Our head designer, Kelli Murray, said they tried to portray connection and friendship between their individually painted figures and the top upper angel-like character served as the protector among the group. By the end of the night I felt extremely connected as a company and to the StandUp for Kids mission.

Definitely a great way to kick off a new job.

A special thanks to all of the artists who donated their time and talent to make this project possible:
