The Naked and Famous

The Naked and Famous is an indie rock band from Auckland, New Zealand. After garnering nation wide success in their home country, The Naked and Famous have recently been taking over radio stations in the United States with their hit single “Young Blood.” This week we will be giving away tickets to their show October 16^th at The Belly Up in Solona Beach, CA! Thrice

Thrice just released their new album “Major/Minor” on September 16^th through Vagrant Records. Since their formation, Thrice has experimented with their sound. With many of their earlier recordings being categorized as heavy rock, Major/Minor takes a much different approach experimenting with some of their indie rock influences. Check out the song “Yellow Belly” off “Major/Minor.”

The 2^nd annual San Diego Music Thing happened this weekend, where over 150 bands played across 14 venues in San Diego throughout the day. This week’s Music Monday features a few bands that played at this year’s San Diego Music Thing.

The Silent Comedy

The Silent Comedy is a well-known local San Diego group that started back in 2006. The Silent Comedy is known for their unique sound and energetic live shows. The band self-produced their full length LP, Common Faults in 2010 which resulted in opening spots with bands like Mumford and Sons, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Razorlight, Switchfoot, The Black Keys, Common, MGMT, Cold War Kids, Flogging Molly, The Whigs, Delta Spirit, and more.

Dynamite Walls

Recently signed to Universal Records, San Diego’s Dynamite Walls have been hard at work for their upcoming full length. According to their site they have “been compared to everything from Coldplay to The Strokes.”

Republic of Letters

Republic of Letters has been gaining momentum this past year with recent appearances at SXSW and nominations at the San Diego Music Awards. Influenced by bands like U2 and The Who, this indie pop act has made a name for themselves in San Diego.

The Early November Creates A Contest To Benefit StandUp For Kids

After 10 years, The Early November have decided to do two reunion shows! The founder, Ace Enders, and his wife Jenn, spread the word of Jedidiah and StandUp For Kids to the rest of the band members. They chose Jedidiah to make their reunion shows’ merchandise and launched a contest today where 100% of proceeds benefit StandUp For Kids. We appreciate The Early November joining us in supporting our Fall/Holiday partner and encourage you to participate in their contest.
