MISSION: Soul Care exists to support women affected by domestic violence and
homelessness. Their goal is to offer a safe, authentic community of supporters, who walk alongside, equipping and empowering women in need.
HISTORY: Seeing a need for wholistic care for women and children whose lives have been affected by domestic violence and homelessness, Elaine Martens Hamilton started the Soul Care Project in San Diego. A licensed marriage and family therapist, Elaine put to use her skills as a counseling professional to rally a community together to form a place where women and children could thrive in creative environments.
TODAY: Soul Care offers a variety of events, classes and workshops that focus on creative expression, psycho-education, physical health, relaxation, meditation and social interaction. These are all lead by women (professionals in their fields or experienced volunteers), who share Soul Care’s perspective: whatever our life circumstances, we are more alike than we are different. They remind women of their beauty and strength and create energy for change by inspiring hope and restoring dignity.
