Everything Seems Right
By John Houchin, Tucson, AZ
What i have to say about how music affects me is not much or even that exciting. My life can be looked at two ways: at first glance you think simple and laid back with not a lot of worries. Take a closer look, and it gets complex beyond all belief. All i want to do in life is truly love and help the people who need it most. That is easy eough. Sometimes i can't even see why exist on this earth. Day after day i will take something beautiful thats been given to me and mess it up. I'll fall on my face. I also tend to blow my problems out of proportion; its easy to get down on myself.
My favorite band is Switchfoot. I'm a fan of the foot in other words. Their music peirces my soul with messages of love, boldness, and truth. Their passion for serving others amazes me. When feel beat up by my own selfish humaness, i will listen to pretty much any Switchfoot song and it brings me back. The music somehow speaks to me; lets me know it is ok. Everything seems right in the world. When the song is over, and everything is right again, i turn everything off. I just reflect on the beauty of good things in my life and in the world. Thats how music affects me.
