FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What does Jedidiah mean?

Jedidiah is a Hebrew word and was a common name given in ancient Israel. The word translates as “beloved by Jehovah” or “friend of God”

Jedidiah is also the original birth name of King Solomon, who is considered to be one of the wisest men who ever lived. He led a life of amazing privilege filled with everything a man could ever want. But through all his accomplishments, Solomon realized that serving others and honoring God is what gives meaning to life.

Is Jedidiah a Christian clothing company?

No……….we believe that the word Christian is a noun and not an adjective. It describes a person, not a company or a product. Our purpose as a company is to promote a life of service and humility. Our mission is to create an apparel brand that establishes a sustainable revenue stream to assist those less fortunate than us. Our 1% for Humanity and The Hope Collection are the tangible ways we are doing this. We hope that what we do as people and what we do as a company is honorable to God, but we are not a Christian clothing company.

Where are Jedidiah clothes made and are they sweatshop free?

As we have grown we have had to expand our vendor base and are making product outside of the US. There are some governing bodies that are improving their awareness of factories around the world to try and help establish guidelines that apparel companies can trust. But Jedidiah feels strongly about visiting the factories we use in person to meet the owners and managers and walk the production floors. It really is the best way to have our own awareness and trust of where we make our products. So at least once a year we travel overseas to ensure all the companies we work with honor their employees and are truly sweatshop free.

Where can I buy Jedidiah?

There is a store locater set up on our website which can help in finding a retailer close to you. However, we sell into the surf industry and are in many shops all around the country. We also sell into the fashion boutique industry with our showrooms in Manhattan and LA. These boutiques are also all around the country but more focused on larger metropolitan markets. We have a few national accounts as well; we sell The Buckle in all doors and many Nordstrom locations. You can also shop our online store.

How does Jedidiah choose its Hope Collection partners?

There is no formula here. We really just try and follow the leading in our hearts. But what we try and look for is organizations that focus on the plight of people. All our partnerships are built on relationships. Our desire is to walk with these organizations and feel their burden, not just write a check. It has been our privilege to walk in Africa, Nicaragua, Mexico, San Diego and Indonesia with these great organizations. They are our friends and we want to honor them with our financial contributions, our time and our prayerful support.

How does Jedidiah choose its sponsored surfers, musicians and artists?

Really it’s the same as our Hope Collection partners. Jedidiah does not actively pursue gaining these relationships. We feel we want these relationships to happen more naturally through the process of community. We never try and push our agenda or seek personalities for the benefit or marketing Jedidiah. We want an artist/musician/surfer to somehow be attracted to what we are trying to do and want to support it. We look to sponsor artists/musicians/surfers who are not only talented but passionate about making the world a better place. Our sponsorships aren’t business relationships, it is meant to be a friendship first with both sides supporting the values and intentions of the other. These relationships are not financially motivated. All our sponsored people know that Jedidiah spends its money on our Hope Collection partners and they in turn feel a part of this culture of giving.

How can I get involved in Jedidiah?

We have this question posed to us often. And honestly, we felt our answers in the past have been insufficient. We feel a responsibility to try and get people plugged into what Jedidiah and our partners are doing. This new website is part of our answer. We are being much more intentional about our calendars and the awareness we bring to our community. We will be promoting future service trips that people can participate in. We will be posting “calls to action’ in the community section of our site. Our desire is to engage you in what we are doing. So we ask you to be active and keep current on what we have on our site and we will do our best to do the same.
