Going Where There Is No Path

‎”Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson.

I’ve recently been posting quotes on our Facebook and Twitter pages and this particular quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson has stuck with me given the relationships we share with different humanitarian organizations.

Interacting with these organizations, I’ve come to realize that it is the Compassions, Invisible Childrens and World Visions of our society that have literally gone where there is no path. They are leaving trails that range from putting systems in place to educate people on running a self-sustaining community to trails that are literally ending wars. And there are trails everywhere in between that are forever changing lives of people that are severely affected by conditions beyond their control.

Simply put, the staffs of these organizations are deveoting their heartbeats and all of the life within them to do the right thing. This work is not for the faint of heart. It is not safe. It is not easy. It isn’t glamorous. And we are honored to support these people…we can’t say that enough.

So “thank you” to our partners for simply doing what you do. You turn unchartered territory into a formula that helps the very humanity we are all a part of. You are making a huge difference. You are leaving the trail that makes it easier for other people and organizations to aid humanity in the way you have shown them how.

Fall Launch Party This Friday

This Friday, September 3rd, come out to the Jedidiah Warehouse and join us for a free screening of “On Surfari: Haiti” and live music from Family Wagon and Pilots.

The event is all ages, will run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Easy parking. Snacks and drink will be provided.

Our retail store WILL BE OPEN, featuring our brand new fall jackets and tees. We’ll also have a 2-for-$20 t-shirt sale.

Come hang out with us and help support Compassion International’s Haiti Relief Efforts.

Update #3: Compassion Haiti Relief

With Compassion International being our 3rd Quarter partner and a percentage of all sales benefitting their Leadership Development Program, specifically in Haiti, we wanted to give you an update on what is going on there. It is not work for the faint of heart. We are proud to be associated with the people at Compassion as they give all they have to help those who have suffered.

Restarting LDP Activities
Compassion will restart its Leadership Development Program but with a distinct balance of activities for the next several months prior to the reopening of universities. Its objectives will be the following:

-All LDP students will participate on a regular and significant basis in a service opportunity in a child development center, church or community organization.

-All LDP students will satisfy all non-academic requirements of the program including attendance, correspondence, church participation, assessment, participation in care groups, etc.

-All LDP students will receive will receive post-trauma training and counseling

-All LDP students will receive benefits from the strategies, Temporary and Transitional Shelter and Short-Term Food Security

The restart for all Compassion-partner activities includes hosting “camps” for all students (as well as Compassion babies/moms and children), providing occupational therapy, sports and games, cognitive therapy (earthquake & disaster education), group therapy, and fun and fellowship with peers.

“The retreat was a moment of great emotion. Seeing the faces of friends who survived resulted in abundant joy and tears. On the other hand, it was a time to bury the memories of January 12. Our meetings have rekindled the flame of our belief which tells us that the future is still very promising and we have a big role to play in the rebuilding of Haiti.” -LDP student Wesly Hyppolite

I’m Joanna and I’m interning here at Jedidiah for the summer time. Jedidiah’s clothes are great to wear all year long, especially when preparing to go back to school in the fall. Here are some of my favorites from the summer and fall line.

Birds

This shirt has got to be one of the most comfortable shirts I have worn. Paired with a cute pair of shorts and some tights, this shirt is perfect for the first day of class.

Falcon Tri-Cranberry

The Falcon shirt is perfect for a day in the fall when the memories of summer are still fresh. Pair it with some jeans, sandals, a braid in your hair and you can still feel that summer freedom.

Glasses
