Many times people ask us how they can support Jedidiah’s mission beyond purchasing a t-shirt. They’re looking for ways to actively get involved and one of the best ways they can do this is to host a Gum For My Boat film screening. If you haven’t seen it yet, watch the trailer at the bottom.
Gum For My Boat is an alluring documentary that touches on the redemptive power of surfing. This short feature tells the story of how a group of underprivileged kids in Bangladesh are making a difference in their community, and how the surf club they started is the catalyst for this change.
How it works:
1. First let us know you want to host a screening. We will send you Gum For My Boat DVD , and depending on how big your screening will be we’ll throw in some free Jedidiah merch to give away at your event.
2. Get a group together. It could be anywhere from three to three hundred!
3. Find a location. Your house, a friends house, a coffee shop, your youth group room, the possibilities are endless!
4. Figure out the necessary items you will need… tv, dvd player, screen+projector, etc.
5. Get the word out about your event! Creating a facebook event seems like the best way to do this.
The rest is up to you! You can go anywhere from offering a bowl of chips and salsa, to having your event sponsored with a band or two! You have the freedom to go small and simple or big and extravagant.
