From April 1 through June 30, every item you purchased from Jedidiah had an impact on the lives of people who Amor is able to help by simply providing food and shelter. Jeff Ahlberg, Amor’s Business Development Manager, recently wrote us a letter for us to relay to you how grateful they are for YOUR contribution of $24,148.68!!!
On behalf of Amor Ministries, thank you for all the support you have shown. We are absolutely blown away by the generosity of Jedidiah and the amazing people they are connected with. We are also blown away by the people that come and serve the poor with Amor.
Amor is all about keeping families together and that is the true reason we started this crazy thing 30 years ago. In order to meet that challenge head on, the indigenous pastors and community leaders have asked us to build homes for families because a home is the most practical way to keep a family together.
Humans have a hierarchy of needs. If a person is starving, adequate shelter will be an after thought. Hunger is the largest problem the poor in Mexico are facing. And because there are no jobs, parents cannot feed their kids, let alone themselves. When there are many mouths to feed and no resources to do it with, families fall apart. It is very typical for a family to send their kids to live with relatives in hope of a better life for their kids…or at least some food for them. Because of this great need, Amor began a food bank program.
Thanks to Amor’s relationship with Jedidiah, we are able to provide for the hungry. The money that you have raised is going directly to Project Hope: Hunger No More, Amor’s food Bank program. One hundred percent of all the funds will provide food for the Pastors and their starving communities. Pastors in Tijuana, Rosarito, Tecate, Puerto Peñasco and Juarez each get a stipend from Amor to purchase staple food items for their families and communities. The money you’ve raised will not only sustain that specific program, but it will allow the pastors’ food bank stipend to actually be increased. With this being a tough year for Amor financially, Project Hope: Hunger No More was scheduled to run out of money this past June. Now, the program will be able to last the entire year and even into 2011!
Breaking the numbers down looks like this: It takes $100 for pastor to feed themselves and their communities for a month. It takes $25 to feed a family for one week, $50 to feed a family for two weeks and $100 meets their needs for an entire month.
Simply put, your purchases have enabled us to feed 10 pastors and their communities as well as 10 families for a year! Your purchases are having immediate impact.
Without your selfless help, Amor would not be able to keep families together. Thank you on behalf of the Amor Team and the amazing people we serve. You are the difference.
So from the Jedidiah, thank you for making a choice to buy clothing that gives back to a cause greater than ourselves. We look forward to updating you on Amor’s Project Hope: Hunger No More.
